ABOUT THIS CAMP

This face-to-face camp has been designed for students to enjoy, have fun and learn. Our face-to-face Pre-Veterinary Medicine summer camp groups are small to enable tutors and students greater scope for interaction, dialogue, questions and answers. We motivate students to develop their understanding of veterinary medicine while having fun. We stimulate students to interact with veterinarians and veterinary students and question about what is like to study veterinary medicine and to be a veterinarian. We teach students to learn how to identify a problem and look for a solution. We also foster the development of resilience. Sometimes, some students tend to give up easily. We teach students that they need to try for alternate solutions to a given problem.

WHAT WE TEACH

We encourage students to learn and discuss in-depth science facts and concepts. We also motivate students to have a good understanding of anatomy, physiology, biochemistry and their implications in veterinary medicine. Students will learn veterinary medicine across a range of different animals, organ systems and contexts. Students work on activities to develop problem-solving skills, teamwork and resilience. Students learn the importance of animals in society.

TOPICS INCLUDE

Introduction to veterinary medicine, neurobiology and animal systems, fundamentals of infectious disease, comparative vertebrate biology, farm animal studies, equine studies, cardiovascular and respiratory systems, small animal medicine, veterinary public health, veterinary anatomy and physiology.

DIFFERENTIATION

At Richer Education, we understand that ‘one size does not fit all‘. Therefore, our tutors and mentors differentiate the content of our sessions. We ensure that all children, regardless of their level of knowledge, are engaged at the appropriate level and pace.
