ABOUT THE SATURDAY SCIENCE BOOSTER CLASSES
- In-depth understanding of complex topics: The booster course focuses on breaking down challenging science concepts such as physics equations, chemical reactions, and biological processes. This helps students grasp difficult material more easily, enhancing their overall understanding of the subject.
- Hands-on practice with exam techniques: The course offers targeted revision of common exam questions and past papers, equipping students with the skills to approach and solve problems efficiently. This practical experience helps them manage time effectively and apply their knowledge accurately in exam settings.
- Improved confidence across science subjects: With focused attention on weak areas, students gain the confidence to tackle all three sciences—biology, chemistry, and physics. This comprehensive support allows them to approach their exams with reduced stress and a higher chance of achieving strong results.
We recognise that progress in science is built on solid foundations. That is why we ensure children are confident with the fundamentals of science before progressing to more challenging topics. We also foster the study skills necessary for children to become independent and confident leaders. Study skills include:
- Time management
- Finding and using keywords
- Prioritising information and understanding exam questions

WHAT WE AIM IN THE BOOSTER SCIENCE PROGRAMME
We want children to interconnect the core areas of science and apply their knowledge and skills to problem solve and answer questions confidently. Therefore, we aim children to:
- Develop scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding across the disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics Â
- Develop scientific skills and thinking including forming hypotheses, planning experiments, analysing data, evaluating resultsÂ
- Apply mathematical skills where appropriate across the scientific disciplinesÂ
- Understand the applications of science and its impact on society today and in the futureÂ
- Learn and apply a range of scientific vocabulary including articulating scientific concepts clearly and precisely
WHAT IS COVERED IN OUR BOOSTER SCIENCE PROGRAMME
We focus on establishing a solid foundation and understanding of science. Equally, we encourage children to enjoy learning science, further their understanding of the world around them and excel at a school level.Â
We cover the following core areas of science in line with the national curriculum:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- PhysicsÂ
- Science skills
- Examination practice (Year 10 and 11 only)
Once children master the core areas of science, we continue to encourage children’s knowledge of science by developing scientific enquiry skills to develop their own understanding and appreciate the importance of objectivity, reliability, evidence and peer review.Â
